Armed home invasion under investigation in Ithaca

Police say that on Saturday a little before 5 p.m. officers received a walk-in complaint of a robbery at a residence on North Cayuga Street in Ithaca.

Two victims reported being in a residence in the 300 block of North Cayuga Street around 4:30 p.m. when multiple unidentified suspects entered without permission. They were ordered by the suspects to turn over a number of personal items – including an undisclosed amount of money.

At one point during the incident the suspect that had a firearm struck one victim in the face causing injury.

Both escaped through an open window and fled on foot to IPD headquarters.

Police responded to the incident location, at which point a perimeter was established. A search for suspects at the residence and in surrounding areas yielded no results, police said.

The scene was processed and as of Sunday morning the investigation remains active.
