Sheriff: Shortsville man charged with rape after CPS investigation in Palmyra

Sheriff Barry Virts reports the arrest of a Shortsville man following an investigation in the village of Palmyra.

Raymond Pohl, 54, of Shortsville was charged with predatory sex assault against a child, first-degree course of conduct against a child, first-degree rape, and first-degree criminal sex act.

The arrest took place after an investigation was initiated by Wayne County Child Protective Services. A child abuse hotline had been received, reporting that Raymond had sexual contact with a child that was living in his home at the time. It’s alleged that Raymond, on a weekly basis, raped the child that was living with him.

The child was under 13 years old at the time of the attacks.

Raymond was arrested and arraigned. He was remanded to jail without bail. A stay away court order of protection was issued protecting the child.
