Sheriff Tim Luce reports the arrest of two Romulus residents following an investigation into the death of a 3-year-old child.
On October 23rd, deputies and investigators responded to a residence on Ernsberger Road for the report of an unresponsive 3-year-old male. Deputies responded along with first responders from the Romulus Fire Department, North Seneca Ambulance, and South Seneca Ambulance – attempting extensive life-saving measures.
Luce says the child was ultimately transported to Geneva General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office and Seneca County Child Protective Services performed an extensive investigation discovering that the child was left alone in a barn.
As result of the lack of supervision – the child accidentally drowned in a container filled with liquid.
The parents were identified as Samuel Stoltzfus, 27, and Fannie Stoltzfus, 26, both of Romulus, who are facing child endangerment charges as result of the incident and investigation.
No additional information was provided about the extent of charges against them.
