No mask mandate, but Biden will ask for Americans to wear one for 100 days in 2021

Joe Biden said last week that he will ask Americans to commit to wearing a mask for the first 100 days of his presidency.

The ask came in lieu of a mandate, which many were concerned about seeing if the Democrat was elected.

Public health experts have been calling for people to wear masks anytime they are around those they do not live with.

“On the first day I’m inaugurated, I’m going to ask the public for 100 days to mask. Just 100 days to mask — not forever, just 100 days. And I think we’ll see a significant reduction” Biden said in an interview with CNN.

President-elect Biden also said that he asked Dr. Anthony Fauci to stay on through his administration. He will also likely serve as Biden’s chief medical advisor.
