UPDATE: Over 30 employees positive for COVID-19 at Demay, but none of them have returned to work yet

No new residents were found to have COVID-19 at the Demay Living Center in Wayne County, but several staff members tested positive for it.

Rochester Regional Health updated its tracker of the virus at the senior living center on Friday, showing that six employees tested positive for the virus since the day before.

No residents of the facility tested positive.

It brings the total number of employees at the facility to test positive for COVID-19 to 34. The tracker shows that none of the 34 staff had returned to work as of Friday.

“We continue to screen all employees prior to the start of their shifts for fever, cough, shortness of breath, and other symptoms. If they have any of these symptoms or if they test positive for COVID-19 we do not allow them to enter the facility. Instead, they are instructed to quarantine at home, and do not return until they have tested negative,” Rochester Regional Health said in an update about ongoing safety protocols.

Visitation at the facility was suspended when the outbreak began.
