The number of COVID-19 cases in Cayuga County continues to climb as officials see one of the biggest single-day upticks since the pandemic began.
A total of 22 new cases were identified over the weekend, and 13 were confirmed on Monday. Officials say seven Cayuga County residents are now hospitalized because of the virus.
Over the weekend, public health officials said they were concerned about the spread of the virus in the community. An employee at the Red Apple Kwik Fill on Genesee Street tested positive, and worked on October 7th, 8th, 10th, 11th, and 14th.
Meanwhile, public health officials were also concerned about how lax some people were getting around the virus.
There have been a total of 269 confirmed cases since the coronavirus pandemic began.
