Lawmakers in New York are calling for an investigation into nursing home deaths during the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Altogether, at least 6,400 New Yorkers died from the Novel Coronavirus, or COVID-19 in nursing homes.
By mid-week there were calls for an independent, bi-partisan investigation into the state’s actions.
Most people believe the number of deaths is far greater than what’s been reported.
Last week State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker addressed some lawmakers, but didn’t answer many questions.
Republicans have been calling for an investigation throughout the pandemic. Now, Democrats are joining those calls, as Governor Andrew Cuomo defends the state’s policies, which were laid out in executive orders throughout the pandemic.
