The New York State Public High School Athletic Association is considering several outcomes for fall sports, but no official word has come down yet.
The entity, which governs sports across public high schools in New York is expected to make a decision by week’s end.
A task force has been working on the details, and creating a number of scenarios. It all hinges on whether schools will be doing in-person learning this fall.
Advocates have said that if extracurriculars like sports are not permitted in the fall — overall participation and engagement in education will fall off significantly.
Fall sports are expected to begin in late-August.
