Governor Andrew Cuomo says it’s not looking likely that the New York State Fair will take place in August.
However, he left the door open – citing that there’s still a chance it could happen.
“Right now, we’re not in a position to go ahead,” he said during a press conference. “We can’t say that it’s going to open, but it’s something I’m watching very closely. It breaks my heart.”
Cuomo noted that he’s been speaking with fair officials about the latest date that a decision could be made to give organizers the ability to make a 2020 fair happen.
He says a final decision will be coming in the weeks ahead.
