Cayuga Nation sues Seneca Falls over parking restriction near store

It looks like the Town of Seneca Falls is headed back to court.

The Cayuga Nation is suing because of a designation granted near a corner store of theirs, which officials made a ‘no parking’ zone.

The Nation made the announcement in a press release. A local law was recently adopted in Seneca Falls, making the area no parking.

“When the Town acted as it did on June 2, it did so in complete disregard of the law as well as without consideration of any of the objections the Nation raised in a detailed letter our attorneys sent to the Town Council,” said Clint Halftown in that release. “Occasionally there is some overflow parking at the store, and especially during the pandemic, but this has been successfully managed by our Nation Police. This is drastic and unnecessary step and was taken without the Town having properly studied the traffic situation.”

The store is open at this time, despite the Coronavirus Pandemic.
