Lawmakers consider ban on chokeholds by police officers across the U.S.

Congressional lawmakers are considering a bill that would ban the use of chokeholds by police across the entire U.S.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand from New York introduced the measure on Wednesday.

The bill would also significantly limit any maneuvers that restrict oxygen or blood flow.

Gillibrand said the bill would also address what happened with George Floyd.

Lawmakers hope that this bill will be part of a criminal justice reform package in Washington.
