The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Port Byron man following the investigation of a crash in the town of Savannah.
Deputies charged Reginald Townsend, 47, with DWI, failure to keep right, moving from lane unsafely, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
Deputies say he was operating his vehicle northbound on State Route 89 when he lost control of it, failing to navigate a turn. The vehicle collided with a telephone pole, and overturned before colliding with a farm fence.
Townsend then fled the scene on foot, but was located a short time later with the assistance of K9 tracking.
He was released on appearance tickets and will answer the charges at a later date.
