Ginna Nuclear Power Plant will test sirens around facility in Wayne County

Call it a nuclear test. But not one that should cause alarm.

Ginna Nuclear Power Plan in Wayne County will be running its sirens as a test on May 5th. There are a total of 96 sirens in a 10 mile radius around the plant.

Each will be tested for 3-5 minutes for effectiveness.

Those sirens would be used to alert people for more information in the case of a real emergency.

The facility provides power to nearly 500,000 homes.
