RIT junior forward Jake Hamacher (Corona, CA/Dubuque Fighting Saints) scored three goals to lead the Tigers to a 4-1 victory over visiting Bentley in Atlantic Hockey action, Friday.
RIT got on the board with 6:26 left in the first period. Hamacher came up with a loose puck at the top of the Tiger zone and sent a puck forward to freshman forward Caleb Moretz (Fairbanks, AK/Flin Flon Bombers) in the neutral zone. Moretz battled his way down the left boards and centered a puck that deflected off a Bentley player in the slot directly to Hamacher, who scored on a wrist shot.
Hamacher put the Tigers on top, 2-0, with 16:19 on the second-period clock. Freshman defenseman Ryan Nicholson (Mississauga, Ontario/Oakville Blades) sent a puck down low to junior forward Alden Dupuis (Edmonton, Alberta/Bonnyville Pontiacs), who fed Hamacher in the left face-off circle for a scoring wrist-shot that snuck under the Falcon goalie’s pads.
FINAL SCORE – RIT 4, @BentleyHockey 1; Hamacher hat-trick leads the way to three big @Atlantic_Hockey points. Teams face-off again on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
