A terrifying moment aboard a Disney cruise turned heroic when a father jumped overboard to save his 4-year-old daughter after she fell from the ship’s fourth deck into the open ocean.
The dramatic rescue unfolded aboard the Disney Dream as it returned from the Bahamas, with quick action from the father and crew averting what could have been a devastating tragedy.
Father Leaps Into Ocean After Daughter Falls from Fourth Deck
The incident occurred on Sunday, June 29, 2025, while the Disney Dream was sailing back to Florida.
As the ship cruised through the Atlantic, a young girl suddenly fell overboard from the fourth deck—approximately 40 to 50 feet above the waterline.
Without hesitation, her father dove into the ocean after her. Passengers described hearing a “man overboard” alert shortly after the fall.
The massive ship then immediately began to slow and turn around while crew members deployed rescue equipment.
Heroic Rescue by Crew and Family
In the water, the father was able to reach and hold onto his daughter until help arrived. Crew members acted swiftly, lowering life-saving gear and pulling both father and daughter back aboard safely.
According to those onboard, the pair were conscious and alert throughout the ordeal.
Medical personnel quickly evaluated them once they were back on the ship. Neither suffered serious injuries, and both were reported to be in stable condition following the rescue.
Disney Cruise Line Responds
Disney Cruise Line confirmed the incident and praised its crew for their immediate response.
The company is reportedly reviewing its safety procedures and protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future, including railing height standards and child supervision reminders for parents.
