State Police say a driver headed west from the Syracuse-area on the New York State Thruway fell asleep at the wheel and veered off the road.
The operator, identified as Hernandez Bolton, 54, of Mississippi overcorrected when he realized his vehicle was going off the road – and collided with another vehicle.
Both went off the road and down an embankment. The tractor-trailer had overturned.
The vehicles were totaled. It all happened around 9:15 a.m. on Saturday.
No serious injuries were reported. However, two people were transported to Upstate University Hospital.
Approximately 50 gallons of diesel fuel leaked from the tractor-trailer as a result of the crash.
Troopers say Bolton was issued tickets for failing to maintain his lane, and operating with a suspended CDL license.
