Two timely runs and some smart defense was all Wake Forest needed to edge out the Orange, 65-60, Sunday afternoon in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Demon Deacons outshot the Orange by just 0.2 in the field and 7.3 from the charity stripe en route to their victory. This is just the second time in eight meetings, and first at home, that Wake Forest (12-8, 5-4 ACC) has come out on top of Syracuse (9-10, 3-5 ACC).
“Wake did a really good job and we have to give them a lot of credit,” head coach Quentin Hillsman said. “We have to continue to be aggressive at the rim, attack the backboard, try to score through contact and make open shots. This is a very physical basketball league and we have to be able to finish tough plays.”
Played this one with heavy hearts today. #RIPKobe
