Steuben man convicted of murder at 13 in 1993 denied parole

A Steuben County man who was convicted of murder a 4-year-old in 1993 has been denied parole again.

Eric Smith was 13 at the time of the crime in 1993. He was ultimately convicted of killing 4-year-old Derrick Robie in Stueben County.

The State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision says Smith was denied release by the parole board.

He’s eligible again in 2021.
