William Fricke, 67, of Fairport appeared in Ontario County Court on Thursday.
He pleaded not guilty to the 11 counts filed against him.
He faces up to 20 years to life in prison if he’s convicted. Altogether, Fricke was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, four counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of first-degree attempted murder, and two counts of first-degree assault.
Bail was not allowed by the judge in the case. District Attorney Jim Ritts requested an order of protection for the victim’s daughters, which was granted.
Fricke is accused of murdering Julie Baker, 58, whom he’s said to have had a relationship with over a period of nearly a decade. Dennis Gruttadaro, 60, was seriously injured in the attack in Canandaigua.
He has since been released from the hospital.
