The Rochester Catholic Diocese has filed a motion to set August 13th, 2020 as the deadline to file sex abuse claims.
The diocese has filed for bankruptcy amid dozens of claims filed by survivors of abuse as part of the Child Victims Act.
If the motion is approved – August 13th would be the final date for claims to be filed in court.
There is a bill in Albany to extend the one-year window that was signed into action last year by Governor Andrew Cuomo through the Child Victims Act.
It’s not clear at this point if the extension would have an impact on the Diocese’ motion.
