Senior forward Shawn Cameron (Sherbrooke, Quebec/Cumberland Grads) scored twice as the RIT men’s hockey team (11-10-3-0, 7-6-3-0-1) lost 5-3 at No. 14 Arizona State (15-8-3, 0-0-0), 5-3 Saturday evening.
Sophomore forward Kobe Walker (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Bobcats) built off his previous night’s performance by putting RIT on the board a little more than six minutes into the first period. He managed to get past the ASU defense off a quick possession change to score.
Arizona State came back with 3:40 left in the first as a shot from Junior forward William Knierim took an unfortunate bounce underneath Logan Drackett’s (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks) padding to find its way across the goal line.
Cameron helped put the Tigers back on top by scoring on a similar breakaway-type play to the one that Walker opened the game with.
Cameron scored his second goal of the night 1:18 into the second period. He was set up in front of the goal by assists from Junior forwards Bryson Traptow (Calgary, Alberta/Camrose Kodiaks) and Nick Bruce (Fall River, Nova Scotia/Johnstown Tomahawks) who were positioned behind the net.
