Ontario Co. neighbors fearful of looting & trespassing after home explosion

“What I do is I look for the flashlights,” he says. “The first time after this happened, I looked out here and thought I saw flashlights.”

He’s keeping an eye on the property where his neighbor’s house used to stand.

“People stop and gawk and take pictures,” he says. “A lot of cars going by, looking.”

On Tuesday morning, a house explosion on Quayle Road in Richmond killed the couple who lived there. Police identified them as 80-year-old Eric Higham and his wife, 70-year-old Gail Higham. Investigators say it was a propane leak the caused the blast.

“We thought we would pop by and check out the aftermath of this horrific explosion that happened,” says one woman, who stopped in front of the property to take a look. In the days since the explosion, neighbors say this has become common.
