Victims of Richmond house explosion ID’d; propane leak led to blast

Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies have released the identities of the two people killed in Tuesday’s house explosion in Richmond, as well as the cause of the blast.

Eric Higham, 80, and Gail Higham, 70, died when their Quayle Road home exploded early Tuesday. Deputies say the two were married.

Deputies responded to the scene around 4:30 a.m. The home had already been destroyed upon arrival and was engulfed in flames. Pieces of the roof and siding were later found in neighbors’ yards and trees, while paperwork and clothing were thrown hundreds of feet from the home.
