Governor Cuomo signed the Pension Poaching Prevention Act on Friday.
The legislation protects veterans and their families from pension poaching and other scams that can impact their financial situations.
It also prohibits any entity from receiving compensation for helping veterans and their dependents prepare a claim.
The bill will take effect 120 days after it becomes a law.
