Two juveniles have been arrested for creating a panic at the Walmart in Cortland by saying someone in the store had a gun.
A Walmart employee received two phone calls Saturday night saying someone with a gun had entered the store. The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office as well as Cortland and State Police responded and evacuated the property.
It caused panic for the area following a deadly mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas.
Investigators determined there was no threat and began investigating who made the calls.
They say their investigation led them to the two juveniles who have been charged with third-degree falsely reporting an incident and sixth-degree conspiracy.
