The independence of some disabled people across New York state could be in jeopardy.
New York State plans to make cuts to a program that helps coordinate care for disabled people.
Without the help, many people say they could be forced to go into nursing home or could be left at home without any help.
“As a disabled woman, it’s important to have some sense of control over your life,” said Ericka Jones.
She uses her wheelchair daily. Part of her independence comes from having the ability to pick who she wants to take care of her in her own home.
“It has ultimately changed my life,” she said. “They help me with things like cooking and cleaning my apartment.”
