The Auburn Doubledays improved to 9-8 on the young season with a 6-4 win over the West Virginia Black Bears on Tuesday night in front of over 1,700 fans at Falcon Park in Auburn.
Auburn struck early with 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning and would build a 6-1 lead behind a strong outing from winning pitcher Leif Strohm who went 5 and 2/3 innings before giving up 3 in the top of the 6th. Gilberto Chu would hold the Black Bears scoreless in the 7th and 8th before Pearson McMahan closed the door for his second save of the season. Caldioli Sanfler led the way for Auburn with 2 doubles and a triple on the night, Wilmer Perez hit his first homer of the season, and Jake Alu extended his hitting streak to 7 games with a single into right field.
