A tractor-trailer fire caused the temporary closure of the Thruway between exits 39 and 40, according to transportation officials.
Emergency crews responded to the scene around 4 p.m. It took until about 5:30 p.m. for the scene to be cleared.
The tractor-trailer suffered extensive damage as result of the fire.
Normal traffic flow was restored by 6:30 p.m., according to first responders.
