“There is too much trash and not enough accountability. This operation has run roughshod over this county for years.”
Those were the words of Geneva resident Jim Hogan, one of several people who criticized Casella Waste Systems over the ongoing odor problem at the Ontario County Landfill during Thursday night’s county Board of Supervisors meeting.
Before Hogan and others addressed the board, supervisors heard from Shelly Sayward, Casella’s vice president and assistant general counsel. Sayward, who was joined by other Casella and landfill officials, admitted the company faced challenges at the site over the last year.
