REMEMBERING: Noreen Marie Dygert, 74, of Islip Terrace

Noreen Marie Dygert passed away on November 1, 2026, in Islip Terrace, New York, at the age of 74.

Born in Syracuse, New York, to John M. Carroll and Mary Baron, Noreen graduated from William Nottingham High School in 1970. She continued her education at AMH Nursing School in Auburn, New York, where she completed her certification in 1973.

For 26 years, Noreen served as a registered nurse in the operating room at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Her work reflected a deep commitment to nursing and to the responsibilities she carried each day. Alongside her professional life, she was also a caregiver to her son, Christopher, together with his father, Gerard (Cathy) Dygert.

Outside of work, Noreen enjoyed swimming, dancing, listening to music, walking, and gathering with family and friends for any occasion. Most important to both her personal and professional life was her faith in Jesus. She loved and served as she was called to, and that faith remained a steady and meaningful part of her life.

Noreen spent the last four years of her life on Long Island with her daughter, Michele, Michele’s husband, Keron Singh, and their two sons, Joshua and Isaac. She enjoyed their farmhouse and spending time at the beach.

She was predeceased by her sister, Diantha (William) Schiller; her father, John; her mother, Mary; and her son, Christopher. She is also remembered by her siblings, Mary Pat, Daniel, Thomas, and William.

Noreen Marie Dygert will be remembered for her years of dedicated service as a nurse, for the care she gave to her family, and for the time she shared with those closest to her.

A memorial service will be held at Evangel Church of God in Lindenhurst, followed by burial at Amityville Cemetery.
