Firefighters responded to an active chimney fire at 1665 Pork St. in Skaneateles on Saturday afternoon after reports of flames coming from the top of the chimney.
The Mottville Volunteer Fire Company said it was dispatched at 1:23 p.m. Nov. 7, along with the Marcellus Fire Department, to assist the Skaneateles Fire District.
The first arriving Mottville units confirmed an active chimney fire. Mottville’s Engine 2 crew worked inside the building and supported firefighting efforts from the ground. Its Ladder 38 crew helped extinguish the fire, clear the stovepipe and check whether flames had spread beyond the chimney.
Mottville sent 13 firefighters, along with Engine 2, Ladder 38, command vehicles and fire police.
All units had cleared the scene by 2:03 p.m., about 40 minutes after the initial dispatch.
