Susan M Klaver, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Susan was born the daughter of the late Grant and Anna (Melnitchyn) Malone on Saturday, May 29, 1948. She grew up in the Marion area and graduated from Marion High School also earning her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree and license. Her dedication to caring for others led her to further her education, eventually earning her degree as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Throughout her life, Susan was a compassionate and devoted nurse who touched countless lives with her kindness and caring nature. Her love and compassion extended far beyond her profession, as she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Susan had a special way of making everyone she met feel loved and cared for. Susan enjoyed reading, gardening, and farming, but above all, she treasured the time spent with her family.
Susan will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lori (Angel) Porrata; her grandchildren, Jacob (Rebecca) Wheeler and Samantha Klaver; her son-in-law, Andrew Wheeler; her brothers-in-law, Roger Klaver and Floyd (Susan) Klaver; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Susan was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Klaver and her son, Brian Klaver
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller Street, Newark, NY 14513. Susan’s graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at Marion Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Marion, NY 14505. A reception will immediately follow the graveside service at the Marion American Legion, 4141 Witherden Road, Marion, NY 14505.
