REMEMBERING: Joseph R. Mucedola, 75, of Weedsport

Joseph R. Mucedola, 75, of Weedsport, passed away early in the morning on Sunday, November 1, 2026 with his loving family by his side.

Born in Auburn on September 21, 1951, he grew up in Throopsville and was the son of the late Frank and Adriana Coppola Mucedola and was a graduate of Port Byron High School, Class of 1969. After high school he went on to earn his associates degree from Cayuga Community College. Joe was a baseball fanatic, playing baseball, fast pitch softball and umpiring all types of men's and women's leagues for most of his life. He grew up watching Willie Mays and admired him endlessly, always telling us he was the "best there is, best there was, best there ever will be" and later became a big fan of the NY Yankees.

Music was an important part of Joe's family life. He enjoyed playing trombone, bass and accordion alongside his father and brothers. "Take 5" as they were known, performed at 1,443 weddings, not including other events.

Joe was a strong willed, hard worker who retired as a Sales Supervisor with B.E. Wright Beverage Co. and participated in Company 2D 9th Battalion Basic Training Brigade.

He was a professional driver for many years, ushering wedding parties, wine tours, Buffalo Bills trips and more as part of Big D's Limo and driving Centro Bus for the NYS Fair.

He was loved deeply and will be missed by his family. He will forever be the "Bull of the Woods" and his unforgettable oneliners and stories will be in our memories forever.

In addition to his loving wife, Cathy Connell Mucedola, Joe is survived by his children, Diana Slywiak (Eric) and Joseph Mucedola (Amanda); four grandchildren, Sophia, Joseph III, Jack and Gus; sister, Anna Maria Tuori (Guy); brothers, Felix Mucedola (Mary Ann) and Randy Mucedola (Amy); and several nieces and nephews.
