Robin Larson Rohrer of Gorham, N.Y. passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on October 25, 2026
She was predeceased by her parents Lois and J. Frederick Larson, her only sibling, Rebecca Sue Spink and her son, William Allan Rohrer. She is survived by her daughters Allison (Lucian) Sacheli and Andrea Rohrer Metcalf, and her ex-husband and good friend, William Rohrer. Robin was a loving Mauma to her 5 grandchildren: Lucian, Lydia & Lucca Sacheli and Lily & Reese Metcalf.
Mrs. Rohrer, a graduate of Mynders Academy, Keuka College and SUNY Geneseo, spent her entire career as a primary school teacher for the Marcus Whitman Central School District. She began there, at the tiny Stanley School House in 1969 and later moved with the district to the Gorham Elementary building. She taught mainly Kindergarten, in addition to grades 1 and 2 for a few years, until her retirement in 2002. She dearly loved her job and spending time surrounded by children. During her career, Mrs. Rohrer devoted much time to planning and fundraising for the former 'Creative Playground' at the MW Gorham building. She believed that "The Work of Children is Play".
Robin was interested in collecting antiques, wool rug-hooking, painting and traveling. She had a special affinity for spending time in France. Robin also loved being in her garden with her flowers (including, what she called the "friendly" weeds) eventually earning the title of Master Gardener in her retirement. Robin was happy being out of doors, even enjoying watching rainy days from the comfort of her front porch. She was an early member of the Women for NY Wines Lobbying group and liked giving wine tastings while educating people about the various grapes grown across the Finger Lakes region. Robin made wonderful memories while doing Civil War reenactments with her grandchildren, as a part of the Reynold's Battery. Her creativity, kindness and light-hearted spirit will be fondly remembered.
