Hobart offensive lineman Javon Hricenak-James spent the summer supporting state legislative candidates through an internship with The First Ask in Washington, D.C.
The junior handled donor research and outreach, social media and correspondence with candidates, drawing on lessons in teamwork and time management from football.
“The professional world is no different than the football field,” Hricenak-James said in a Hobart athletics feature published Tuesday.
The internship followed earlier work with the Pennsylvania legislature, where he helped plan community events.
“There is nothing more important than being mindful of the time you have and when things need to be done,” he said.
Hricenak-James is part of a Hobart offensive line that has allowed a league-low nine sacks this season and none over the past two games.
The Statesmen are 5-3 after three straight wins and average 362.8 yards of offense per game, including 154.4 rushing and 208.4 passing.
Hobart hosts Hilbert at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.
