Rochester man pleads guilty in child sexual abuse material case involving Roblox

A Rochester man has pleaded guilty to receiving child sexual abuse material after prosecutors said he used Roblox to meet girls and solicit explicit images. Vincent Steiner, 23, faces a mandatory minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years in federal prison.

Steiner entered the plea before U.S. District Judge Frank Geraci, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of New York. The federal offense, legally described as receipt of child pornography, also carries a possible $250,000 fine.

The plea agreement describes conduct between December 2024 and July 22, 2025. Prosecutors said Steiner used the gaming platform to meet minors and tried to persuade them to send him sexual images of themselves.

Between January and March 2025, he persuaded a 12-year-old girl to send images and videos depicting sexual activity, according to the agreement. He also requested a nude image of her 8-year-old sister and sent sexually explicit messages to a 13-year-old girl he met through Roblox.

Sentencing is scheduled for January 14, 2027, at 3:30 p.m. Homeland Security Investigations investigated the case, which is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Katelyn Hartford.
