She comes from Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, where she worked as a pulmonary and critical care physician. Her experience includes regular and robotic bronchoscopies, lung biopsies, endobronchial ultrasound and care for critically ill patients in intensive care units.

Specialist care and training

Finger Lakes Health said Burza's arrival gives primary care providers another resource for patients needing specialty evaluation and treatment for respiratory concerns.

Burza completed a pulmonary and critical care fellowship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. She later served there as a clinical assistant professor of medicine and associate program director for the Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship Program.

She completed her internal medicine residency at Pennsylvania Hospital, part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, and earned her medical degree at Government Medical College Jammu in India. She is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.

Jose Acevedo, Finger Lakes Health's president and CEO, said expanding the primary care network and adding specialists is intended to help patients find care closer to home and improve coordination among local providers.
