Construction on a replacement for the closed Leach Road bridge could begin in 2030 or sooner, with bidding possible in early 2029, according to a Town of Lyons project update.
The town said all funding for the $12.1 million replacement has been secured and final plans are being drafted.
Once those plans are complete, they will go through state environmental review and then to the State Historic Preservation Office because of the bridge’s historic nature.
The bidding timeline depends on the agencies signing off on the plans.
According to the update, federal funds account for 80% of the project funding, state funds for 15% and local funds for 5%.
The bridge was owned by the state until it closed. Once the replacement is complete, it will be under county ownership for future maintenance, the town said.
