Three hikers without headlamps were helped off Marble Mountain by forest rangers on Oct. 10.
Ray Brook Dispatch received the call at 9:33 p.m. in Wilmington, Essex County, according to the Department of Environmental Conservation’s report, released Thursday.
Two rangers located the hikers, two 20-year-olds and a 14-year-old. The group had been relying on a cellphone for light, which drains its battery quickly.
The rangers provided headlamps and helped the group out of the woods. The call was cleared at 10:42 p.m.
The DEC recommends bringing more than one headlamp and extra batteries as part of the 10 hiking essentials.
