Teen charged in Seneca Falls thefts of SUV, three firearms

A 17-year-old boy was arrested Sunday at about 2 p.m. in connection with the thefts of an SUV and three firearms in separate incidents, according to the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department.

Police said the teenager stole a 2022 Dodge Durango from a home's driveway in Seneca Falls on Sept. 17.

The SUV was later recovered in Auburn after it was involved in a crash, police said.

In that investigation, the teenager was charged with third-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree grand larceny and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Police also charged him with three counts of fourth-degree grand larceny after three firearms were stolen Oct. 11 from a vehicle parked at a local motel.

Seneca Falls police made the arrest after Auburn police notified them that the teenager was in custody in an unrelated stolen-vehicle investigation.

After processing, he was turned over to New York State Police for transportation to a juvenile detention facility.
