A Fredonia grape processor is offering another outlet for growers with fruit still uncommitted late in the 2026 harvest season.
AgriAmerica Fruit Products LLC said Thursday it is seeking quality-grown grapes of all varieties from regional growers for processing and marketing before this year's crush season ends. The company said the program is aimed in part at farms that lost an expected buyer earlier this year.
The company expects to finish crushing grapes in late October or early November, depending on the tonnage growers bring in. It is asking interested growers to contact its Grower Relations Department promptly to discuss the amount of fruit they have, delivery arrangements and whether they can participate.
Another outlet after contracts ended
The announcement follows a major processor's decision to discontinue grower contracts and stop processing grapes for its own use beginning this year. That left some farmers searching for a buyer after investing in their 2026 crops, AgriAmerica said. The company did not identify the processor or say how many growers its new program could accommodate.
AgriAmerica, which also grows grapes commercially, said it understands the costs of raising a crop without a guaranteed market. Its program offers growers a chance to discuss processing and marketing options for fruit that remains available, rather than a guaranteed purchase at a stated price.
“When a grower loses an anticipated market, particularly without sufficient warning, the consequences can be significant,” said Eric Huddy, a founding partner and managing member of AgriAmerica. “We want growers to know that AgriAmerica is interested in working with them to identify opportunities for their remaining 2026 crop and to help them make the most of the harvest season.”
Harvest and delivery help available
The company said it may also help participating growers arrange mechanical harvesting, tote bins and transportation to its processing plant at 200 Water St. in Fredonia. That help depends on each grower's needs and the availability of those services.
AgriAmerica said it provides detailed records of fruit deliveries that growers may need for crop insurance or U.S. Department of Agriculture programs. It said it works with fruit buyers who have a history of paying promptly for delivered fruit.
The company said it currently processes and markets grapes grown by nearly 100 growers in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan. The new program is open to interested regional growers with remaining 2026 fruit, but the company said delivery plans and potential participation must be discussed individually.
