Cornell University recognized eight Research and Innovation staff members with its inaugural RISE Awards, selecting the recipients from more than 80 nominations across the division.
The awards were presented Sept. 23. Gary Koretzky, Cornell's vice provost for research, said the nominations reflected how staff contributions are valued across the division.
The Rising Star Award went to Bridget Hagen of Communications and Hannah Wheeler of the Center for Animal Resources and Education. Emily Sampson of the Institute of Biotechnology and John Grazul of the Cornell Center for Materials Research received Sustained Excellence Awards.
Cynthia Mathys of the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability and Gene Masters of the Center for Technology Licensing received Innovation Awards. Hallie Arbital Jacoby of the Center for Regional Economic Advancement and Tim O'Connell of CLASSE received Culture and Community Awards.
Cornell said the awards recognize promise, sustained performance, improvements to work processes and contributions to the research community.
