A Cheektowaga woman was charged with resisting arrest Sunday after Penn Yan police found her riding in a vehicle reported stolen from her hometown.
Maris Lenk, 37, was a passenger in the vehicle, according to the Penn Yan Police Department's account.
Officers were initially dispatched to a local establishment after a report that a man and woman were yelling at one another.
Before officers arrived, dispatch advised that the two had left in a vehicle reported stolen from the town of Cheektowaga.
Police located the vehicle traveling on Liberty Street before it pulled into a gas station, where officers contacted the male driver and Lenk.
Cheektowaga police identified Lenk as the person accused of stealing the vehicle and confirmed charges against her, Penn Yan police said.
Lenk physically resisted when officers tried to take her into custody and later attempted to kick out a patrol car's rear window, according to police.
Penn Yan officers charged her with resisting arrest and turned her over to Cheektowaga police, while the male driver was released at the scene.
Police said additional charges were pending against both Lenk and the driver after officers found suspected drugs concealed in the vehicle.
