Gov. Kathy Hochul's reelection campaign released a new advertisement Tuesday featuring school cafeteria workers as it promotes her record on student cellphones, free school meals and prekindergarten.
The campaign said the “Lunch Lady” ad is part of a multimillion-dollar statewide advertising effort that will run through Election Day on broadcast and cable television, streaming services and digital platforms.
In the ad, Hochul says her school cellphone ban is keeping children focused, that her administration delivered free meals to schools and that it launched universal prekindergarten. Cafeteria workers respond to each point before Hochul closes with the campaign line, “Your family is my fight.”
The spot opens with Hochul saying that people who want to know what is happening in a school should talk to a lunch lady. The campaign did not provide a local school or identify the workers who appear in the ad.
The release was issued by Hochul's campaign, not the governor's office. It identifies Friends for Kathy Hochul as the group that paid for the advertisement.
