Penfield man charged with DWI after Victor parking lot crash

A Penfield man was charged with driving while intoxicated after deputies found a vehicle that had struck a parking lot light pole near the Regal cinema in Victor on Saturday, the Ontario County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies identified the driver as Kenneth Woodward, 37. They responded after a 911 crash notification from an iPhone and found Woodward in the driver's seat of the vehicle, which had significant damage to its rear, according to the release.

Emergency medical personnel checked Woodward at the scene. Deputies then administered standardized field sobriety tests and took him into custody, the Sheriff's Office said.

In addition to DWI, Woodward was charged with driving with a suspended registration, driving without insurance, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle and backing unsafely, according to the release.

He was taken to the Ontario County Jail and appeared in centralized arraignment court. The Sheriff's Office said he was released on his own recognizance and is due in Victor Town Court at a later date.
