Newark to present North Main Street reconstruction plans Monday

Newark residents can review the design for a proposed reconstruction of North Main Street during a public information meeting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, in Newark High School’s Large Group Instruction Room, 625 Peirson Ave.

The project covers Route 88 between West Union and Pearl streets. Plans call for a new road surface, curbs and sidewalks, along with upgrades to stormwater drainage, sanitary sewers, water mains and service lines.

The village also proposes new traffic signals at West Shore Boulevard and Harrison Street, streetlights and flashing beacons at the Lincoln School crosswalk.

The village has not announced a construction start date.

Monday’s meeting is intended to give the public a look at the design before construction begins.
