A Geneva city councilor has been indicted on felony drug charges after rejecting a plea offer, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Ahmad Whitfield faces one count of second-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and two counts of third-degree criminal sale following a January State Police arrest.
Whitfield missed Tuesday’s Ontario County Court hearing where the indictment was unsealed, and a judge is expected to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.
He has not attended a City Council meeting since his arrest but remains in office and continues to receive city pay.
Mayor Jim Cecere said the city is separately reviewing questions about Whitfield’s residency, has reached no conclusion and is seeking legal guidance.
