Geneva residents ages 8 and older can join a community performance of the “Thriller” dance at the end of the city's Halloween parade Sunday, Oct. 25. St. Peter's Community Arts Academy, The Ballet School and the Geneva Recreation Department are organizing the performance.
No dance experience is required. Participants will learn a choreographed version of the Michael Jackson dance at four Saturday rehearsals before performing together after the parade.
Rehearsals are scheduled for Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24 from 2:15 to 3 p.m. at the St. Peter's Community Arts Academy dance studio, 149 Genesee St. in Geneva. Organizers said participants will receive email reminders and video resources to practice between sessions.
The Oct. 25 performance will begin at the Knights of Columbus and move along Milton Street toward Pulteney Street, or until the music ends, according to the academy. The announcement does not specify a separate start time for the dance beyond its place at the conclusion of the parade.
St. Peter's has presented the dance for years and is again inviting community members to join. Dancers, families and other Halloween enthusiasts who meet the age minimum are welcome to take part, organizers said.
The event flyer includes a signup code and directs readers to stpetersarts.org for more information. Participants are encouraged to dress for Halloween for the performance.
