President Donald Trump signed two bills Wednesday addressing federal court access in Texas and California and sexual harassment and assault against federal prison employees.
The Local Access to Courts Act adds College Station, Texas, and El Centro, California, to the list of locations where federal court may be held.
College Station will be included within the Southern District of Texas, while El Centro will be an authorized court location in the Southern District of California.
The second measure, the Prison Staff Safety Enhancement Act, requires the federal Bureau of Prisons to address sexual harassment and sexual assault committed against employees by incarcerated people.
The White House announcement did not provide implementation deadlines, funding amounts or additional details about the requirements created by the prison-safety law.
Both measures became law with the president's signature on Sept. 16.
