Looking to add a new companion to your home?
Each week, FingerLakes1.com partners with the Humane Society of Yates County to highlight local animals in need of a loving home. This week’s featured pets offer two strong personalities — one confident feline who wants to rule the house, and one smart, energetic dog looking for an active home where she can be the center of attention.
Franks
Franks is a sweet, loving, and vocal 2-year-old boy who longs for a home of his own. He gets along well with other cats and would fit into most homes, but sadly, his special medical needs may mean he spends much longer waiting in a shelter than he deserves. He has a history of urinary blockage and must remain on a urinary diet, so he needs someone willing to provide the extra care and attention his health requires. He has so much love to give and shouldn’t have to spend his days waiting behind a kennel door simply because he needs a little extra care. Franks is truly hoping that someone will look past his medical history and see the sweet, deserving boy who is still waiting for his chance at a home.
Buzz
Buzz is ready to find the family he can call his own! This handsome boy is just under a year old and weighs about 30 pounds. We believe Buzz is a Dachshund/Shepherd mix, which has given him a pretty adorable combination of a long, low body, big floppy ears, and those striking eyes that are hard to resist. He is a friendly young dog who does well with other dogs and children, making him a great candidate for a variety of homes. At less than a year old, he still has plenty of youthful energy and is looking for a family who will continue helping him learn, explore, and grow into the wonderful adult dog we know he can be. At around 30 pounds, Buzz is also a great in-between size—not too big, not too small, but just right for tagging along on family adventures and then curling up at home afterward.
